help with cage setup

i just got a new corn and put him in his tank but i cant get the temp right. I have a zoo med UTH heater in there and when i checked the heat it was a little over 100 so i turned it off and turned on my heating lamp but that seems to keep it at low 80's high 70's, is there some way to regulate the amount of heat given off by the heating pad. Also where can i buy clips to hold the lid on the tank.

thanks

UTH's will usually run full blast at about 100-120 degrees. They need to be regulated by either a rheostat or thermostat. I would recommend buying a thermostat. I use a herpstat, but they can be expensive if all you have is one snake. They sell cheap thermostats online or at petstores. A popular one seems to be the one sold by Big Apple Herps, the BAH-1000. A search on the forum for thermostats will give you a bunch of threads about what people use.

You can also buy aquarium clips at petstores, that is where I got mine.
