help with genetics what would I get from these

a male charcoal 66% het for bloodred, hypo, anery,& amel. Bred to a Hypo 66% het for blood, charcoal, amel, & anery. Also what if I bred the hypo above to another hypo het for the same things. What would I get from that.

Thanks for the help.

the 66% het means that the snake has a 66% chance of being het for each of the traits individually. The only way to find out if it is het for that certain trait or not is by breeding it with a snake thats positivly het (or is the morph) of what your trying to prove. By breeding the charcoal to the hypo the only positive thing you will get are normals 100% het for charcoal and hypo. If they both end up being het the same traits you could get some of those traits too, which will prove what they are hets they may share. If you breed the hypo to another hypo then you will get all hypos, and like above you may get other morphs if it turns out that they both are het for the same mutation/s.

Let's see... a male charcoal 66% het for bloodred, hypo, anery,& amel X female Hypo 66% het for blood, charcoal, amel, & anery... you get.........Corn Snakes. :sidestep:

Actually, this prediction will probably be right on the money. Probably NORMAL corn snakes will be the results you get.

The "law" of averages in statistics seem to really stink when working the genetics of the corn snake in breeding trials. Throwing "66 percenters" into the equation is just asking for disappointments.

Agreed.

If you have snakes that have a 66% change of carrying those hets, that means there's also a 33% change of them NOT carrying the hets.

The only way to test for each of the possible hets, is to breed it with something that is either purely that morph (with no hets to confuse the issue), or 100% certain to be carrying just one of those hets.

Prepare yourself for 100% Normal looking, with a completely unknown mix of hets. That way you won't be disappointed. Also, if you DO end up with other morphs, anything you get will be a bonus.
