Help with my Derek???

Cornflake1

The Crazy Snake Lady! :-)
I had this corn from a friend last year who moved in with his 'snake-phobic' girlfriend so I took him off him with pleasure. He told me he was an Anery. He is 2yrs old now and he doesn't look like any anery's i've seen. The one's I've seen are alot darker than Derek. I also have a ghost and he doesn't look like him much either. He is developing nice yellow along his neck like my ghost, but I don't really know. :shrugs:
Thought you guys could help me clarify! Thanks! :wavey:

He looks like a nice light anery or dark ghost. Anerys come in a wide range of shades, and so do ghosts, which can sometimes make it difficult to tell the difference without breeding trials. With the experience I've had with my anerys, they seem to be their lightest at around 2 years old, and then gain some melanin over the next few years. I'll bet yours does as well.

I'm not a complete expert on identifying Cornsnake genetics, but from what I've seen Anerythristic Corns do tend to have some yellow near their chin and neck; Anerythrisim seems to only remove mostly reds from your Corn, not necessarily the yellows. Also I'm sure a young snake would also have a nice whiter look. :D The only way for sure would be to possibly breed him!!!! or just wait and see what happens.

Thanks for your replies. Perhaps I'll just wait and see. He has the yellow but so does my ghost so i'll just wait and plan on breeding him next year then i'll know for sure! I'll have to update this post next season! lol :)
