Help with new Corn

I just got my first corn today! He's a " banded motley butter that I picked up from a local breeder in a 7-eleven parking lot (felt like a drug deal). I'm a snake newb, so I asked him a few questions about my setup.

I purchased a 20 Gallon long aquarium for a good deal and thought that it would be adequate. The guy I bought my corn from said that it was too big for the him, and that he needed a 10 gallon, or a little smaller to feel more secure. Iv'e got aspen as the substrate, 3 hides, a fake plant lining across the middle, and a little climbing branch. I put him in his terrarium buy laying the deli cup he came in inside of the enclosure. Iv'e got aspen as the substrate, 3 hides, a fake plant lining across the middle, and a little climbing branch. As soon as I put him in he made his way out, exploring his new home. Within 5 min or so he went for his water bowl , and I got to watch him take a drink! then he rested on some of the plants for a few mins and made his way to a hide on the cool side. He looked very comfortable to me (what do I know?). I just find it hard to believe, since there wild "enclosures" are endless. I just tried to put plenty of hides in there for him. I was wondering if anyone else thinks a 20 gallon is too big for a 2 month old Corn?

depends. some snakes are very secretive and dont use roaming space. some are very out there and do whatever they please and nothing bothers them. i think if he has proper amount to hide around and in, and you give him a proper settle in time he'll be just fine. at least he'll be able to get a lot of exercise in it.

I think he'll be ok in there. :) If he was in a HUGE enclosure, I might worry that he'd be hard to find, but that shouldn't be a problem in a 20L.
