Hi! im new here...i just need some advice on my corn. from what i read, corns lay eggs for several hours only. but mine has been laying for 2 weeks already... about 3 per week (i have 6 at the moment and around three more which are still inside the corn). the first three eggs didnt look healthy when they were laid since they were deformed. the second batch were infested with small flies...i think the flies laid their eggs in the container since the corn eggs were covered with small maggot-like worms. i cleaned the eggs and placed it in a different container.

is it normal for corns to lay eggs for weeks? and is the second batch rotting already or was it just infested with parasites?

this is my first time to breed corns. any advise would help. thanks!

I'm also breeding for the first time, but from all I've found I'd say that it's not normal for it to take weeks. I'd get to a vet before your female is seriously egg bound.
