So about 5 weeks ago I caught a female Herald which I immediately recognised as being Gravid.

Over the past weekend she dropped 24 eggs which are all in good condition.

Enjoy the pics.

@ reptile_jones: The eggs are about the size of Budgie eggs.

@ The_Thunderer: They should hatch around the middle of January.

@ Nanci: I already have orders for 3 pairs, the problem is that people will only buy them if they are eating rodents.

Phase one of my total project is complete, this was captive laid eggs.
Phase two is captive hatched eggs.
Phase three is getting the hatchlings onto rodents.
Phase four is totally captive bred babies.
Phase five is writing a book on Crotaphopeltis hotamboeia.

I have given myself six years to complete this project. A long way to go seeing as we are in week one now.

If you were in the US you' have 4 pairs sold :( Congrats on the clutch that's freaking awesome!

@ Nanci - I have kept the mother for the simple reason that I need to note exactly when breeding season is, breeding temps, humidity etc. I also want to check on the time span from mating to laying etc. I did notice with this batch that the time from pre-lay shed to laying date was 19 days.
I know that common herping practice is release after the eggs are laid, but I am keeping her for my book research together with one of the big males. It may sound selfish but by keeping them I can actually shorten my research time period by about 2 years.
