Our little Nessus just arrived healthy at our home today!!! I can't believe how tiny he is! I was apprehensive, bc I'm a little scared of reptiles, but as soon as I opened his deli cup, it was love at first sight!

I am so happy to say that I am now the proud mommy to a little Blizzard corn!

He's finally ventured out of his deli cup, and now he's up towards the front of the viv, and is coiled in the defensive position. Every time I look towards the viv, or move towards it, he strikes the glass.

:(

This *is* normal right?:uhoh:

If he's really young it's common for hatchling to strike but they will normally tame up fairly quickly. But I'm sure there are more experienced people on here that can give you better information.
Good luck and I can't wait to see pictures! :D I love Blizzards! :D You are so lucky!

Congratulations! At least he's out! Remember when I got El Wray, November 7th? I saw him out for the _first time_ last night!! Now give your guy a stress-free week of settling in before you mess around with him. Yes, I know that's hard to do!

Yeah... I'd really try NOT to let him strike at you through the glass... even if it means putting a towel over the tank (that hangs over the edges) or taping a piece of paper there. I don't think it can be "good" for them to repeatedly hit the glass. Let him settle really well for a good few days (3-5) and then get him used to you with "play-time".

LOL. I've got a new snake too... and it is REALLY hard to not grab him RIGHT NOW and play with him.

Welcome to the forum!:wavey:

Congrats on your blizzard!
(How appropriate as it starting to really snow hard in Milwaukee!)

Lets see some pictures!!!

Thanks for the support all!

Very shortly after I posted that last entry, Nessus settled down, though he still looked rather wary. After a while, he retreated to the back left corner of the viv, where he stayed for, oh, about 3 hours without moving, lol. I just got back from looking at an apartment and I noticed that he had buried himself under the substrate, so that's good.

It's SOOOO hard to not pet him, or pick him up! I wanna play with him so bad! ::pout::

Isn't it amazing how quickly that cute little face banishes that whole 'scared of reptiles' thing? My little guy is converting my snake shy friends left and right nowdays. :)
