He's So Happy He Could Poo...

Malaika

Hey all.

I have a question about my 4-month old(roughly) corn, Isha. He's typically very laid back and likes to explore once he's out of his viv and in my hands. Lately, though, Isha has been pooing nearly every time I take him out. It may just be bad timing on my part, but it's been pretty frequent lately. I was wondering, do they poo when they're nervous/excited/happy/angry or anything like that? Or is it just the call of the wild at an inopportune moment?

Thanks much!!

They tend to drop the contents of their latest meal when exercised, I believe. So when the snake slithers up your arm...yea. Nice experience. :grin01:

As long as your not immediately stopping handling after your snake has poo'ed the i wouldn't worry. Although if you do put it down straight away to clean up or something, you risk compounding the behaviour. Basically your snake eventually learns with repetition that if it poops on you, then you will stop handling it, and animal behaviourist would call it conditioning or something similar :shrugs:
regards,
tom
