Hey

Well they are definitely a good choice and there is tons of knowledge on this site. Just use the search function at the top and input any topic related to them. It is sure to have been discussed here. Welcome.

Thanks also some people have things like this in their signature..."2.1 Ball Pythons, 1.2 Kisatchie Corns, 5.3 Corns, 0.1 Banded Cali King" What does that mean? I assume it has to do with the number of snakes someone owns?...

I figured out what it meant.

Also when looking through the snakes for sale a lot of them have a year by them. I'm assuming this was the year they were born? Plz clarify

Welcome to the forum, and congratulations on your decision to get a corn snake. They're wonderful, beautiful animals. There are a wealth of resources here to get you and your future snake well started. Do you have any idea yet what type of corn you'd like? (Warning: they're addictive!)

Caryl: That is only because some terrible person of a breeder comes up with some new color and/or pattern that is just soooooo cool that you have to have one! lol

If I had the room and the money I could probably have thousands of these guys. So I just have to limit myself to a few choice favorites and live dissapointed in the rest. :(

Not sure yet on what type. I'm still a little confused on the morphs their are so many of them, I can't really narrow them down. I do like the caramel color and the pewter lavender. I'm not sure what morph that is though but those are some of the colors I like. I'm looking for a nice site to maybe explain all the morphs and what they look like.

This is a great place to start.

Keep in mind that a single morph can look very different in different snakes (I have an Amel that is bright, bright orange and an amel with almost no orange, just reds and whites).

Really, you need to find THE SNAKE that is beautiful to you.
The classic morph has some of the most stunning, beautiful colors- but is inexpensive due to not having "the right genes" for breeders.

Indeed! Don't live disappointed, though. Do what I do - live vicariously! Enjoy them in the Photo Gallery! The trouble is, that does lead to wanting more...... ;)

Wise words! Also bear in mind that an individual's coloration can change A LOT as s/he grows. Markings can fade, tones can appear and disappear. If you're looking for a pet to enjoy, you'll probably enjoy watching him or her bloom and grow. If you're looking for specific genetics to add to a breeding plan, you can get an idea of what that combo may look like by checking out adults with similar backgrounds.

simthesnake: Iansvivarium.com has a great list of the morphs with picture. It explains what genetics make up that morph. It has a fair number of hatchling and adult pictures as well. Also you can order Charles Pritzels corn morph guide from Kathy Loves Cornacopia site or from Charles site the name of which escapes me at the moment. Also Kathy Love's Complete Corn Guide is a must for all who own corns. It shows a lot of the morphs, but more importantly it answers most beginner questions in easy to understand detail.
