Hi All! Just Bought A Corn Snake! "Caesar" *Pics

I want another Corn snake
Hey guys i just bought a corn snake. I first wanted a Ball Python but it would be too big since my parents don't really approve/like snakes. I went to petco with my girl to buy her a parakeet and saw the a corn snake. It started to follow my finger so I "fell in love" lol and really wanted it. I came back the next day and saw so many different colors but decided to get the one that followed me.
Maybe next time I'll get a brighter colored one.

I'm goin back to college tomorrow and I'm dorming. I'm not allowed snakes but there's no way i'm leavin Caesar behind. I'm bringing it with me in a smaller tank and hiding it from the guards.

I named him/her Caesar. How could I tell the gender? What type of color is mine? It has a little orange on it's head but you can't tell by the pics.

Welcome to the forums, Your snake is a nice looking normal, It's colours will change dramatically over the next couple months and in a year or so it will definately not look like the same snake :)

Welcome!
That's a nicely colored normal you have. Good luck hiding him in the dorms. My RA never came into our rooms so hopefully your's won't.

You can't edit posts unless you're a contributing member. One other note: Before you get that image linking in your signature area fixed, pictures aren't meant to be allowed in sig areas(moderator's decision). Technically, sig areas are supposed to be restricted to no more than 4 lines as well. Sorry to be a party-pooper. :awcrap:

Thanks all. Sig fixed.

Hey, welcome! I got my corn almost two weeks ago now, I still have yet to name him and my roommate still hasn't sent me the pics we took of him. As soon as I get them, I'll post 'um.

I want to play with it but it keeps sleeping!

Its recomended that you leave him alone for about the first week or so, so he can get used to his new environment. After that you can start to handle him for a few minutes a day until he gets used to it.

Hay, and congrats on the new snake! There great! :D I was just wondering what substrate that is. It looks like ceder. Ceder can be toxic to snakes fyi. I think most people here use aspen. Good luck on keeping him hidden in the dorm  .

It's Four Paws Nature Bark Natural Reptile Bedding.

"Made entirely of the natural ground bark of fir trees and is specially heat treated to help eliminate potentially harmful parasites. Excellent for high-humidity loving reptiles."

It seems ok. I think I should buy more so my snake could burrow more

If you don't like the name "normal", "Wild Type", or "Classic" will also work for that snake. ;-)

Good to know :) My sister once put ceder in A.G.'s viv so now I'm a little paranoid :p.

:wavey: BJ, welcome.

I bought my first corn when I was living in the dorms. He escaped and ended up in my RA's room!
The whole thing was very conspiracy theory though, I think they were just out to get me.
