Hi! Another newb here

Helloo! I am so happy to find you guys!

I'm Julie, and I will be picking this bitty baby up in the morning!! :p This is Lola?/Haze? I can't decide on a name until i meet her. I am so exited i cannot sleep! i feel like a kid on Christmas eve. She will be my first snake ~

She is one of Elemental Exotics phantom babies. Forum member Tavia was so patient and nice, answered all of my questions and was a genuine pleasure to "meet".

About me: I run a payroll department for a living, a recently retired roller derby blocker, Hanna Konda #333, Grassroots Rollergirls of Baton Rouge Louisiana, mom of one (grown) daughter. Im 43 y/o. I recently discovered (to my surprise) that I love reptiles! Who knew? I ended up rescuing a bearded dragon from a bad situation and just set my mind to 'figure it out". I read all i could get my hands on, and in the process fell in love with all that personality covered in scales. His name is Silas. I discovered Nami (my Chinese water dragon) in a big box pet store where i sometimes pick up worms. She had a horrible case of snout rub from banging against the aquarium glass in the store and an infected eye. I saw her there two weeks in a row and just couldn't stand it and brought her home. (I am happy to say that she's all healed up, has nearly doubled in size already, shed, has turned a completely new vibrant green and she seems to be enjoying her new home almost as much as we are enjoying her. I've had a black lab, Jake, for 13 yrs. He titled in agility and obedience in 2005. Charlie Murphy is a 2 yr old Australian Shepard/chow mix that could title in shenanigans if there were such a thing, two evil cats - mr. moses mcKitty (12) and the pirate cat, Gus J.(3).

And tomorrow i meet my very own corn snake! (did i mention i was excited??) :p And nervous. Ive never acquired a pet this way before. (from a breeder & shipped) i keep thinking about how tonight's travel is the hardest night of her lifes. I hope she's traveling as comfortably as possible and is okay. morning cannot come soon enough!

I'm very grateful to have forrest gump'ed my way in here. I have much to learn!

I set up a critter keeper enclosure the other day because i read that too large of a space can stress them out. Now that i found ya'll, i read that i could have set up my 29 long, if i litter the floor with enough hides. I'd appreciate input or recommendations if anybody has one and would like to share.

I am looking forward to this new adventure and hopefully getting to know ya'll in the process.

(whoa that was a long post. I ramble when i'm nervy). I may start working on that 29 long, and then come back and see if anyone replied. lol.
Goodnight, everyone!

Welcome to the forum! You chose a great person to buy from, and I'm sure you'll be pleased with your new snake. (I like the name Haze, by the way.)

As for your bigger tank, definitely make it as cluttered as possible! You can cut paper towel or toilet paper tubes in half to make cheap disposable hides. Fake leaves/vines from the dollar store are always a favorite of my baby snakes as well.

Make sure to give her about a week to settle in before you try to feed or handle her.

Yea I like Haze too. I love bearded dragons as well. Before I got my first reptile I was trying to decide between a snake or a beardie. I realized that feeding a bearded dragon would scare the --- out of me. I'm not very good with bugs. >ω< mice are fine though!

Thank you!

She should be in Baton Rouge anytime now! Our little cool snap did last long enough so thats a relief! She left New Orleans on schedule!

I kind of threw her bigger viv together just in case.

Yay! Home safe! Oh and I forgot until just now, when I got her out to package up, I noticed that she seems slightly duller than usual. So she might be just about to go into shed.

Ok. Thanks for the heads up. Ive seen some how to videos on making a humid box for corn snakes in shed. Do u recommend I make one?

It's probably not necessary to have one but wouldn't hurt to put one in either. Humid hides don't have to be very elaborate or expensive.

Welcome to the forum to you and Haze! I just got my phantom from Tavia and she should be arriving tomorrow! I know exactly how you felt, its like a kid on christmas. Except she will be my second corn but the excitement is the same. Cant fully decide on the name until I meet my little girl either. Hope all goes well with Haze :)

Thanks :) I think she is settling in okay. Ive made a few small adjustments in her enclosure and we've had 2 nights in a row of 5 min handling sessions that I think went well. She seems to have a very sweet disposition. [/img][/IMG]

Hi, I am new here. Not a breeder but a lover of cornsnakes. Got my first one in 1991 and had SWNN for 21 years. Really missed him alot. Now have two adult Okeetees Shylo and Violet, and a year old Anery named Domino and a golden normal named Golden Child. They are set up with the Okeetees in one Exo Terra and the yearlings in another Exo Terra.

Pic from the weekend. My shy Lil Hazie is coming out of her shell a little. Alot less flighty after 3 handling sessions and she took this week's pinkie right away.
