Hi, first time snake owner

So this monday I went and got myself a young amel corn snake. He's a pretty little thing. I decided to name him Gideon. Well, that is if I determine its a boy by candling it tomorrow. I just fed him last night and heard it isn't good to handle them for about two days. If he turns out to be a she I have no idea what I'll be naming her. Honestly I hope its a he. Why? My dog of 11 years passed away 3 weeks ago. My dog was female and she was everything to me. I don't feel ready yet to use female terms of endearment for another creature just yet. That probably sounds silly but, anyway, if my little Gideon is female I will love her anyway.

I agree with HoneyHawthorne, Gideon is a great name for male or female. Sorry about your pooch, but congrats on the serpent he's a cutie.

MY LITTLE GIDEON IS A GIRRRL! I held her up to the light and her tail was clear. Couldn't see any sign of a hemipenis. And I was hoping for a hemipenis...err. she's definitaley a keeper tho. I place my palm in front of her and she climbs on. :)

That's awesome, I love the name, I am a brand new snake owner as of yesterday also, and new here too but welcome, he's a handsome guy.

He/she is beautiful! I just got my first corn snake a couple of weeks ago, a little female amel, and I just love her!

I haven't handled mine yet because I was tol not too for a week or so but I cant want to check "Crescents" tail.
