Your dad is very internet wise.
And wahey! another UK member!
Welcome!
(Also, I'm getting African Land snails too :crazy02: )

Welcome to the Forums, The people here are awesome and can answer any questions you may have about your new member of the family.

Welcome aboard!! And kudos to your father both for getting you a corn snake AND for ensuring your internet safety!

Welcome!

My daughter (almost 12) has been on a few forums (very well supervised by her parents), and it's been a great experience for her. What's worked for us though is to not mention her age too often. You might ask your dad to see if he can take your birthday out of your profile so that your age doesn't show up on the left hand side of every post.

My daughter speaks/types very maturely, so after a while, people just forget how young she is, but you kind of don't want to keep reminding everyone either. ANd the no PMing rule is Incredibly Important. (Hey. I'm all grown up, and I still look sideways at PM's.)

Congratulations on your cornsnake! What color is it?

Hello and welcome to the forums! Show us pictures of your snake if you can. I'd love to see it.

Can anyone tell me how can u tell wether it is male or female??
Also does any1 have any tips or advice??

You may need to bring it to a vet to have it properly sexed. It really doesn't matter unless you want to breed in the future.

A great book with a lot of info is Cornsnakes The Comprehensive Owners Guide by Bill and Kathy Love.

But first, make sure the vet knows how to sex snakes. Most vets are not trained specifically in reptile care, and may not know how to sex them. If someone tries to sex your snake and doesn't know what he is doing, he could permanently injure the snake.

i do have that book but as i am 10 years old i find it tricky to read because there is all these teck words that i don't understand! :-offtopic
I think i will ask my dad if we can bring out the vet to have my baby corn sexed, for i do want to breed corns when i am older!

Well, keep reading it anyway and try glossing over a few of the words you're not getting. Most of us learned what all the tech words mean by just being around them all the time. Once you realize that you've found a word whose meaning is unclear, event though you've read it in sentence after sentence, then go look up that word.

But if you stop everytime you find an awkward word, you're never going to get through the book itself.

It's a trick that will serve you very well throughout your life. (Lots of times people who don't know what they think they know will throw in all sorts of words just to make themselves look smarter. If the sentences don't make any sense without the technical jargon, then you know you've found a poser.)

Good luck...
