Hello and welcome to the forum!

Wayne

PS I see you are from Toronto! I am sorry that our Red Sox recently swept your Blue Jays, at Fenway! ;)

yah i just made an album his name is Augustus and he is less then a year old he is still really young 6 months or so. and he is a male. so they told me at the breeders. and he is red and orange.

I just wanted to know how big they grow? and when do i stop feeding it pinky mice?

thanks.

What a beautiful snake that you have. I just went to your album and took a look. I really like the shots of him coming out of the coconut!

Just a observation though. I hope you don't mind? I noticed that the tank has a lot of moisture/condensation on the inside. Please be careful because excess moisture can lead to problems like URI's or scale rot. Corn snakes typically do better with a moderate humidity which borderlines on dry. The only time that they need a little extra moisture is when they are going to shed. Please be careful!

Again, you have a beautiful snake and welcome to the forum!

Sorrry, I missed this in my last post. A corn can grow from 4-5, 5 and a half feet. They will stop growing from around 4-5 years old. As far as feeding pinkies, you will want to feed a feeder that 1.5 times is as big around, as the fattest part of the snake.

Do you have a scale? If you do the Munson plan is a good plan to follow. Here is a link; Munson Plan

Roy Munson (Deano) is a moderator of this forum and has developed a plan that is pretty easy to follow and will help your snake grow. The first thing is that you will keep feeding a single pinkie, until the snake gets to about 15grams. Then you can bump it up to two. But like I said, compare the pinkie to the girth of your snake.

Good luck and I hope I helped,

Wayne

I don't use it, but I heard that it is a good substrate. I am pretty bland, but I also have a lot of snakes and I use paper towels and news paper. Except in the winter, when I switch to a carefresh/aspen mix. Gives the snakes something to burrow in, when they get cool.

oh ok kool so you are a breeder then? and how do i find out if my snake is male of female?

Male or Femal? OK, I will try!?!? Do you know any one that works with snakes? It is better that you are shown in person, then by me explaining. From the pics, your snake looks fairly young. I am gonna say that he is less than 18". If that is the case, then you can try to pop him/her. But only if he/she is less than 18 inches.

I bet right now, your saying, "what is popping?"

Well, popping is a method of sexing snakes. Right, huh? OK, not funny. Well, it is a method that is "fairly" accurate.

Here is a link to Kathy Loves site on Popping; Kathy Love's Popping Tutorial

This will explain it better than I can type it. I would also go to youtube.com and do a search on sexing corn snakes. Watch these videos lots of times, before you try. That is if you don't know a person that can show you. You can also check with a qualified reptile vet, to get that answered.

Good Luck,

Wayne
