New member here, ducking in to say hi, though I've been lurking for a while! I don't actually own a corn snake... but I may in the near future. When I was little, I used to have a few line snakes that I caught in our garden, and one had 10 babies, which was really cool.
I was recently hired at a pet store, and one day I made it my mission to hold all the snakes... and I've been in love with corn snakes ever since. We've got some really beautiful ones, and I've got one especially that I like, and I try to hold him every day.
(Here's a collage of a few of our snakes. The red albino in the top middle position is my favorite! I think the two snow corns are beautiful, but they strike at me a lot. ...And that's actually a Texas Rat Snake in the corner, but... well, they're relatives, so it's okay)
I'm not sure if I'll be getting one. My mom's against it, but only because it would be "one more thing to take care of," and because I'll (hopefully!) be moving out relatively soon. If I just brought one home, she'd complain a bit, but I think she'd come to like it very quickly (she already thinks they're very attractive). My dad would rather I didn't for the same reason, but he really doesn't care either way. But I'm holding out a bit longer, to hopefully get a bit more approval before I start keeping frozen mice in the freezer and such.
In the process of obsessing over these little guys, I managed to pick up a nice aquarium that someone was throwing out. He said he thought it was a 20L, but comparing it to ones we have in the store, I think it's more like a 33L. I love it. The only problem is that it has a couple of cracks where the glass. One set of cracks is patched with duct tape, but the front bit can be wiggled around a bit too much for my liking. So what are some cheap and slightly more attractive ways to patch glass? I seem to remember having a gerbil tank that was patched with some sort of clear tape, but I'm not sure if that would be a good idea with a heat source under the tank. Thoughts? Questions? Problems? Concerns? Hopes? Dreams? Aspirations? Snide remarks?
