Hi

Firstly Hello, Iv just bought my first snake and Im very happy just got a few questions though.

Firstly- I handled him earlier in the day and he was fine, he's slept/hidden in his hide most of the day but when i went to pick him out earlier he was darting around and really didn't want to be handled so i left him to it as to not destress him further.

Secondly- Since turning off my room light he has now become very active roaming around and sniffing about but again if i go to pick him out he darts around and really doesn't want to be handled.

Im hoping he just needs to get used to me and his surroundings but at the moment it's worrying me slightly as it seems since i picked him out earlier and woke him he is nt wanting to be picked up again, is he just settling in or have I annoyed him.

Sorry for the big post just a little concerned Iv noe got this snake and i won't be able to handle him

thanks nick

Handle him to feed or cleaning the tank but not to much. The times go bye and you will see that he will be more calm

New snakes should be giving 4 or 5 days of solitude with just their water being changed, than after that the first feeding so the snake isn't stressed from the environment change. Than no handling for about 48 hours after feeding. other than that 10-20 a day letting the corn move through your hands will over time allow the snake to become comfortable with you holding it.

Congrats on the new snake!
Welcome to the forum!
Welcome to the addiction that is corn snakes!

Best wishes!
and by all means, please post some pics! (the forum is a sucker for corn pics!)

Thanks for the welcome and the advice, I was told to feed him again on Sunday by the pet shop but I guess if he needs a bit of time to settle in I will leave him till Tuesday for a feed, that will be 4 days of his new environment.

Well il get a pic as soon as he decides he wants to come out and play lol

Hopefully after he has settled a bit he will let me pick him up more.

thanks again Nick
