highlights of a hike ( a little late )

I have been reading all your posts for the past year and I thought I would show you some pictures of a hike along the Susquehanna river in Maryland. It took place in late May when it was still a little cool without all this humidity. Except for the egrets/herons?? all these pictures are from a creek running along side the main river. I think the baby snake is common water snake since it was foraging around in the creek. All of the adult water snakes I have ever seen are very plain; brownish with very indistinct markings. Could someone help with the ID.

 Great pictures! (I think I enjoy these threads where I get to see new wilderness areas the best)

Dang Tim, fix your pix! I'd like to see them. I grew up on, in, and around the Susquehanna, mostly near Harrisburg/Highspire. My grandfather and uncles had a cabin on the banks across from Highspire where we stayed on weekends.

Everybody,
Hope the pics are back!
Alan, This park is located at the base of Conewingo Dam extending about 3 miles south along the west shore of the Susquehanna in Maryland. Another 5-7 miles is Havre de Grace, Md. I think Maryland has a law that nothing can be built within 1000 ft of the river to let it be natural.

Pics are back.
I know that place. When I was 17-18 my friends and I used to camp out next to the RR tracks at Peachbottom in PA just north of that. The fishing was good near the power plant.
Nice frog pic. I think the snake is a Northern Water Snake.

pics are working now. Love the pics, especaly of the blue heron and of the snake in the water. nice hike :)
