Highly Active

Hi all,

Recently Kali has been very very active. Proabably around a month now. She is constantly squirming around her viv rubbing her head on the sides and pushing the vents with her head quite hard and also circling around the lip of the lid.

She used to do this every now and again, but it seems like everytime I see her now she is in "escape mode". Could it be the time of year? I must admit I have not handled her very much in the last month - could she just be bored of her viv?

She is just over a year old. Could she be seeking a male to start breeding?

Any ideas or comments?

Another possibility is that she IS a male, seeking to start breeding. People usually say that the males are restless during the breeding season, not the females. That certainly has proven true with my own snakes so far. The boys are out all the time right now, but not the girls.

That has crossed my mind recently. Sorry if this is a silly question but how can you sex corns? I've never had to think about it before.

I agree that the behavior sounds like a male to me too. My 2 males have been "cruising" for the past month or so. My older male is finally back on food after last eating on March 26th (another male behavior during breeding season).

An experienced reptile person or vet can probe a snake to check on the sex. That's usually the most accurate way.

The reptile shop I got IT from said IT was female, but the recent behaviour does lead me to believe IT may be male.

Feeding has been as regular as clockwork, no shed's for a while though.

right this might get confusing but il do my best to make it simple......

my snake comes out all the time at night cruising around his tank all over the place (not sure its sex). but he stays hidden during the day. but if cos hes so active during the mating season (if he is a male) what would he be like when the mating season passes? will he stay hidden at night as well as during the day?? just a thought?

also....what months are the mating season all together??

ta very much
