hissing at me after feeding??

Ok so I got my corn yesterday. After trying to choose for about 2 hours it came down to a choice between this one and another one who was smaller with a red orange pattern. I picked this one because it was larger so I figured I wouldn't have much problem with getting it to eat.

Its very cute and I guess friendly never bite me or anything.

Today I gave it its first feeding inside of a huggies baby whipes container....I was told to feed away from its home..... well it ate it good and quickly. (I took a video of it on my cell I don't know how to put it here tho because I'm on this forum from my sidekick). But after when I went to get it out of the whipes container to put it in its tank so it can digest it curled up its neck and hissed at me.... should I be worried or was it just too early to move it back. I didn't touch it when it hissed just tilted the whipes container over and let it slide out.

Am I doin it right?
also does anyone know how I can post the pic of it on here?

And about the sex they didn't know it at the store so I'm going to wait till monday to see it my dogs vet does exotics if not ill be on an exotic vet hunt so they can pop or probe it.

I don't think I'd be too concerned, I have one that as soon as she smells food she starts rattling. It's funny because she will grab the food and hold it up in the air (kind of looks like a cobra) and drag it as far from any movement before she will start to swallow. Then rattles the whole time til she is put in her tank. So, you probably startled it or you might have a feisty eater. I'm not sure how you would put something from your phone on here.

Your doing fine!

Your doing just fine with the process you used to feed your baby. Many corns get "fiesty" as the previous poster mentioned when feeding time comes around.

Once your baby is done eating in the feeding container, you do want to move it back into the house (viv) so that it can digest with the aid of thermoregulation(heat).

Most likely your little one was full and did not want to be disturbed. Most corns do not want to be disturbed after they have eaten. Hissing and/or tail rattling(vibrating) are ways it will tell you "leave me alone". You do not want to leave it in the cold tub as it will not be able to properly digest and then complications can arise.

Your method of gently tipping the tub and sliding the snake out, or letting your snake slither out into the viv is a good way to get them back into the viv after eating. This is because it reduces the amount of handling and general stress (snake upset with you bothering it after eating). Less stress = better digestion and less chance of a regurgitated meal.

So far you are doing just fine with your little fellow, now just make sure not to handle or bother it for approx. 2 days, or until you see that it has had a post feed poop.

At approx. 24 hrs after the feed check on your little one and see if you can still see a bit of a lump in the snake from the meal, if so the amount of food you feed it is probably sufficient. Although the best and easiest method of making sure you are feeding the right amount for your new best friend is to use the MUNSON Method found here http://www.cornsnakes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=50106 all you need is a simple digital kitchen scale that weighs in 1g increments (check Walmart).

As for how to add pics to here. The easiest thing I can suggest and that works for me is to go to Photobucket and get a free account. Upload your pics there, it will give you sizing options(I use 640X480 Large for most of my pics). Once you have uploaded your pics, click on them and beside the pic is a window with 4 options: Email & IM, Direct Link, HTML Code, IMG Code. Copy the information in the Direct Link box.

Then when you are writing your post look at the little icons above the typing window and find the one that looks like a mountain, it is the insert photo icon. Click on it, it will open a pop up, delete what is in it, paste what you copied from Photobucket, click OK. Your image should appear.

Please be patient when you are asking for help, this is a great site with many great helpful people. I have had so much help and learned so much from this forum, it really is the best place to be to learn how to be the best you can be for your corn!! You just have to remember we are all in different time zones and have lives too. Check back on your posts often, people will add as they read and feel they have valuable info they can give you. Good luck and welcome.
