Hi
Was just wondering what to do! We hope to go away for a month or so and worried about my 2 snakes. I was going to let a friend mind them, but would I need to put them in their large viv's (3ft) or is there an alternative way of doing it. Can they be in a smaller viv for that short time, and if so how do you control the heat then, water etc.......... I've seen them stored on shows in small, lunch box type containers but it always strikes me... wheres their water, heat mat etc?? Seems cruel. Any ideas out there for this situation or should I just bring their large viv's down afterall? :shrugs:
Thanks
Maria

Well how old and how big are they?

Where are you located? Do you live in a house, apartment? Do you have roomates, etc?

Why would you change the viv they're in? If they are fine in what they are in now, leave them there and have your friend water them and feed in that. If you don't think they can handle moving them into something seperate for feeding, just use paper for the bottom, and let them feed them in the viv.

Thanks

HI
Yes, I know I shall have to transport the viv's down to her place, and set them up. My friend's house is small and I don't think she'll have room to put the both viv's in so I shall have to try get another pal to take one of them. Also one is a king and the other a corn and they have to be in seperate rooms or my corn won't eat. Thats fine, just thought there may be an easier way thats all.
Thanks.

I had to go away for work for 3 months and i couldnt leave my snake with my girl (she will hold her but not ready to take care her) and i couldnt take my 30 gal with so i brought her in a large plastic container and she did just fine.

Just put a water dish and hide in with them, and a heat mat underneath the plastic box.

Generally at herp shows, the ambient room temperature is kept high enough for them to be comfortable at the show. Also, they are only there for a day or two, and are only on display for a few hours a day so it's not necessary to have a water dish in each container as they can be watered after the public leaves. Most people I know of who show don't feed them for a couple of days before shows anyway, so they don't throw up. If there's no food in their tummies they don't really need a "hot spot".
