Houses For Baby Snakes

Hi,

I thought I would post a picture of the little containers I made for my hatchlings.
Just in case you like the idea and would like to use it yourself or if you have any suggestions for me to improve them?
It is a small plastic container like you would get in a chinese takeaway. Since this photo I have drilled holes lower down at the end near the heat mat and holes higher up at the other end. This is so the hot air will circulate naturally as it enters the lower holes near the heat mat and the hot air rises to exit through the higher holes the opposite end. There is a little house area and a water bowl. The paper towel at the bottom is to easily remove if there is any mess on it.
Here is there little house...

This is how I position them in the vivarium next to the heat mat...

This is the 'production line' when I was making them...

Very smart idea. Can not go wrong with foam cups, easy to cut to size. Nothing like a relaxing refreshment also!

The snakes starting pipping the next day, im glad i got there houses ready in time.
Very cheap to make like this too.

I was wondering, do many people keep all there new born snakes together? I have seen lots of videos of breeders keeping them together but I hear stories of them eating each other.

NO! I highly advise you NOT to house your baby corn snakes together. Too many horror stories. It is safer to house them separately. On this website I would believe the majority of people house their babies separately opposed to together.

You did a good job constructing individual houses might as well you them.

I'll always house them seperately just wondered what other people's point of views are.

There is a couple of threads and pictures on here of baby corn snakes that ate another baby corn snake so cannibalism is possible. Not worth the risk to even try it in my opinion.

Most of us here have had babies eat each other, start to, or have at least seen the photos. After feeding, they are particularly prone to cannibalism, but it can happen any time. Once they shed, they must be separated is my personal rule.

I have been separating them as soon as they hatch so there is no chance they will eat each other and also it helps me record which is which so I know what date they were born, first shed and first meal.
