housing/bedding help

hi, i just recenty found this forum and have been reading through housing tips etc.
i'v had my corn snake for almost 2 years now and he is roughly 32-36 inches long.
1)I have 2 aquariums in my house 1 holds the snake the other holds fishes and i was wondering if u could give me advice on which tank would best suit my corn snake.
************************************
Tank 1- L-36" W-12" H-14" (this is the tank my snake is in atm, it also has glass platforms right at the top with about a space of 1.5" from the lid which my snake likes to climb up and squeeze into)
************************************
tank 2- L-48" w-12" H-14"
************************************
so i guess this is a matter of which feature is best for the snake,
hight or ground space.

My second issue is; i have found out that many snake keepers use aspen since it is cheap and easy to clean. but i have also read that it can stick to the mouse and poison/hurt the snake. the problem is that if i take my snake out of the tank and try to feed it somewhare else it wont eat it same if i clean the tank out put the food in then add the snake, he will just leave it
I have a big smooth flat rock that i feed him on atm(inside his tank) it is roughly 10" long. so i was wondering if putting the mouse directly in the middle of that rock will be ok?. as i use bark atm it is expensive from my local petshop and i cant afford to use enough for the snake to burrow whare as with aspen i can. when i feed him on that rock he eats it there and then, doesnt drag it off anywhare so will this be safe with aspen?

final thing is does any know a decent online shop in the uk that will sell things for large cornsnakes, bedding-hide's etc

thx for reading

Go to this thread... * http://www.cornsnakes.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=6128 * for answers on your substrate questions.

Either tank sounds find though. Not much of a deference. That's totally your preference.

You can make your own hides and bowls! It's actually quite fun! I've made mathing sets for all of my hatchlings and yearlings. If you do a search for polymer hides on this site, you should be able to find a big huge thread all about it!

Like blckkat siad either tank will work. As far as substrate goes I like to use newspaper because its cheap and I have a few snakes. Also with newspaper you can feed them in the cage with out any problems of them ingesting the substrate.
