Housing ideas?

Hi,

I need some fresh new ideas for my one year old cornsnake. At the moment I have a sturdy 'rock' water dish, a sturdy 'rock' hiding place (made out of the same material as the water dish), fake vines and foilage as well as a piece of driftwood. I have not bought any new decor but have switched the water dish, cage and hiding place as I saw fit.

Now, as she is a bit older, I want to bring in some fresh looking decor and livin up the flexarium. It is 38L large and is holding one snake. I need ideas to be fairly inexpensive and Im handy with tools and such. I live in a northern town in Alberta, Canada where trees are plentiful, if that helps at all.. :shrugs:

Any help I can get is much appreciated!!

If you live somewhere where there are lots of trees you can go collect branches, bark, and rocks. Just make sure you either bake or bleach what you find! I freeze smaller things for my cages and wash with a mild bleach solution. I use lots of cottonwood bark in my cages since they make nice natural hides for my snakes and my corns are always under them.

If you are good with your hands, I had an idea today you might could pull off.

I don't know why I was thinking about this but here it goes.

I was thinking about those fake book hiding places with all the pages ripped out and something inside like a gun or money. You could maybe build a rectangle box using wood with a hole in the side of the "pages" for the snake to get in and out. You could put a little hinge on the cover of the "book" so you could open it to get the snake out if need. With a little paint, it could be pretty awesome....

This is what I think of day to day... Let me know if you go through with it. If not, show us what you came up with.
