hey guys i duno how many UK members there are, but im 1 of them and i think this site is great, but it would be even better if there was a section for us?

Any Uk members, reply to this post, so ppl can c how many of us there are.

Oh and there are some UK based corn snake forums already pm me if you want a link to the one that i visit some times.

Heck I don't know, seems kind of standoffish doesn't it? Supposed I set up a USA only section. Wouldn't you feel a little put out that I was inferring that it was ONLY for USA members?

Corn snakes are corn snakes, no matter where they are currently located.

i didnt mean it like that Rich, just sometimes its easier to talk to other guys from the same place, like for breeders etc. i dont mean to offend anybody, just noticed there was a 'canadian members section', but i guess thats a contributing members section. my bad. do you guys know of any uk breeders?

Those forums are ones people are paying $50 a year to have for their own use as a personal forum. Anyone interested could do the same thing for a UK forum, if they choose to do so. You would be the moderator of that forum, and it is basically yours to do with as you please. Within reasonable limits of course......

I think it would be very handy if there was a UK section in the for sale section OR UK & Europe ??

I will becoming a contributing member soon but i really wouldnt have the time to run yet another forum as im running 2 already ( non snake related )

Apart from that i think the site is the best ive found concerning corn snakes and everyone is very helpful and friendly

A UK sub-forum would be nice, but personally, I think it would alienate some members from the whole "group" that is corn snakes.com

You don't see an Alabama sub forum, or a Mexican forum... Hell wheres the Scandinavian sub forum.

I don't think its necessary but it could come in useful.

I like how things are mixed up.... But by all means, help contribute to this wonderful site and create a UK sub forum. Im sure it would be appreciated amongst some members :)

Oh yeah i totally agree that it should stay the same as it is.. I just mean in the for sale section..

Every single corn for sale im interested in the usa and cannot be shipped which i understand...
Its just you dont know where they are untill you open the links..
And believe me ive been through soooo many for sale posts and spent a lot of time looking at snakes i want and then find i cant buy...

OR

Maybe it would be an idea to let people know , If they are selling to make sure they have for eg .. USA or UK etc in the title of their advert :shrugs:

All i can get are normal corns for miles and miles... any other corn seems impossible to find where i live...
Finding out every one i look at is located in the usa is getting annoying as i could save a lot of time if the location was in the title or there just a ................. eg. For sale section then usa/ uk and ireland / europe..

It dosnt seperate people or make people feel like they are in a certain group..
This idea is purley for the selling if snakes ....
Like i said thats the last thing we need right ? :)

Well this could introduce some friction. How many UK members here are contributing members? If I made a separate UK (or all of Europe) For Sale/Wanteds section, wouldn't I have to limit posting ads there to contributing members as I am doing for the section here now? So would that requirement kill the utilization of it, because of the very few non-USA contributors here? If I DIDN'T make the requirement of being a paid contributor, wouldn't members paying to post ads in the current For Sale section now somewhat object to this situation?

I do think it would be better if there was one just for the U.S. :grin01: I think that it just might seperate us more.....

:shrugs: I've got all my corns from the London area, and my usual supplier is going to Daytona to pick up high-end corns, he goes to Hamm too. There's only ever a couple of normals in the shop, pm me if you want the shop's website.
He's got a couple of okeetees, stripes, motleys, albino jungles, miamis, and was moaning that he has't enough choice at the moment, I'll be there as soon as the new imports have settled and fed

I think it's perfectly reasonable to expect all classifieds users to be contributing members - be they US or UK based [*is slightly smug*!]. Seriously, if a UK-based classifieds section is warranted, then us UKers should cough up for the privilege, same as everyone else.

Depends what you want and how badly you want it ADevil! Coast to Coast in Darlington has just received a shipment from Rich Z that includes some mouthwatering morphs. I'll be travelling up there from the South Coast to collect the ones that I ordered [come to Mummy :licklips: ]. If you want Normals, you can stay where you are. If you want high end or unusual, then you might have to travel!

Maybe things would be easier if you added some post icons that are little flags, so people could see the flag on each thread in the "For Sale" section.

http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/posticon_addmultiple

On this site (http://www.jfitz.com/flags/) is a set of flags (downloadable in a zipfile)

Not sure how many would be needed, I would assume US, Canada, UK, and maybe a handful of other countries that get ads commonly posted.

(Or people from other than the US could just put the name of their country in the thread title. :shrugs: )

All i suggested was people put the country .. I.E. USA or UK etc in the for sale title...

I will be a contributing member soon but im not asking for a UK- based anything ,, I think the site is great as it is.. Just like i say A tiny 2 or 3 letter USA/UK/EU etc would help a great deal and save a lot of people a lot of wasted time if it was in the title... :shrugs: :)

I don't get why people in the UK would put up classifieds here and not include that in their title to begin with. :shrugs: If this were cornsnakes.co.uk or cornsnakes.ca, I would put "[USA]" in the titles of my for sale threads. Since it's cornsnakes.com I don't bother. :santa:

But it would be a good idea to get such a protocol established for people outside the US who want to sell stuff and actually want potential buyers to view their threads.

I think my favorite thing is people who do not put their location in the location field (or in their post) and ask locale-specific questions as if everyone is supposed to be psychic and know where they live. :grin01: It would be nice if that field were mandatory when registering.

Not being picky but .com does not mean USA does it... :santa:
I run a .com website which is also a .co.uk for the same site ..
And i agree .. I dont know why they dont put it in the title.. or anyone else for that matter..

Im not trying to get up anyones nose or anything ..It was just a suggestion as ive spent hours getting all excited at the fact i might be able to get some of the snakes ive always wanted just to find that in the rare occasion i can get one shipped its going to cost like $500 or something which is madness...

Maybe some people will see this and put their location in maybe they dont ...
It would just be nice if they do :)

I love the site the way it is like ive said before.. :santa:

i think its a good idea (not upsetting anyone i hope) be handy if uk based people could have a place where we could reccommend things snake related, ie places to buy, snakes food, supplies, up and coming shows, etc etc. as the snake scene over here isnt as popular (YET) as it is in the US. :shrugs:

And I had never even seen this thread

So, there is now an European Members' forum. I paid for it, because it satisfies my homesickness of European abroad. :)

Just remember that, should it become separatist, I'll take it down.
