How long does your snake hide out before

shedding. Our new snake has been doing great. In anticipation of a shed, how long do your young cornsnakes tend to hide away? We are on about day 5 now. I've added an extra water source for humidity, and also placed some wet peat moss in a container to help. All we really see of him is that he switches back and forth between hides. Can this go on for awhile?

I'm in the learning stage.

Thanks, Tom

Mine hides out about a week but I never timed it.
You added water and such during blue. Has your snake had issues with shedding??

my snakes hide all the time, with the exception of FinFang near feeding day.
Not all snakes like to be seen, and all snakes are different. I'm sure you'll get to know yours in no time.

This would be the first shed since we brought him home last month. Other than that, he is taking thawed out pinkies readily, with the exception of this last week. Will let you know how it goes.

Thanks.

All mine hide pretty much all the time I will occasionaly catch them out when I turn the lights on or something or during the day they will peek their heads out to see whats going on in my apartment but other then that its hidding all day I know they are out when the lights are out but never really see it.

My snake stays in a hide just about all the time. He does come out a lot when it's within a day or two of feeding. When he's hungry, he's out during the day frequently, and pretty much all night long. :)
He stays hidden all the time when he's in blue, however he'll eat if it's feeding time even when in blue. All snakes are different.
