How long for eggs ?????

Hi my girl chomp has just had her pre lay shed and is settled in her lay box, but i was wondering how long before she lays any eggs ?

Any day to two weeks-ish. I would check that lay box twice daily at this point. I usually check mine in the morning and right before bed.

ok thanks ive been checking her daily just to make sure her box isnt to dry, and i havnt handled her in about 3 weeks cos i havnt wanted to disturb her is that ok ??

I handle regularly until the prelay shed just to be sure they get exercise. After the prelay shed I wait until after the third mini meal to handle so she isn't stressed too much. Then its back to normal. What morphs did you breed to produce this clutch? I'm excited for you!

was a total accident !! i got them from my 10yr old cousin who told me they were both boys, and i had both in same tank while i was waiting to get another tank, and caught them mating ( wow my male buzz was like a dog on heat chasing poor chomp all round the viv ) so seperated them asap. chomp hasnt eaten in nearly 6 weeks which at first i put down to stress cos of the male, but since they have been seperated she still hasnt eaten which is now starting to worry me, do i keep offering her food ?? at the moment i offer her once maybe twice a week in the hope she might take it. ohh i have a buzz who is a amel and chomp is a classic :)

I would not offer food until after she has laid, or until it is quite clear that she is not going to, perhaps a month. Did she gain a lot of weight? Also I would leave her strictly alone until she lays, checking the lay box twice a day. And remove her water bowl and replace it with one so small she can't get into it and lay her eggs.

Now are you all set up to incubate the eggs?

Yeah at this point I would stop offering food. Once the laybox is in they don't really eat anyway. Well, most don't and some do stop eating about half way threw developing the eggs inside because they have no room for food. Other than peeking in the laybox you should let her be.

eggs :)

well i checked chomp last night and found she had laid an egg but not in her lay box it was right next to her water bowl !! as soon as i saw it i put the egg into her lay box and when i got up this morning to do my 1st check of the day found 8 more eggs in her box.can i expect more eggs over the next few days or will the 9 she has had be it ?????

I would check her in the evening, and again the next morning, and she should be done. Then feel her carefully to make sure all the eggs are out.

ok thank you i will keep checking her, should i leave her with the eggs for a couple of days before i take them out ??

When she's done laying, you take the eggs out and put them in the egg container, in the incubator.

How exciting, please take pics and post them. My girl is just settling into her laybox though she did eat yesterday. Seeing healthy fertile eggs gives me hope my girls will lay some too

chomps eggs :)

heres chomps eggs dont know if any are going to be any good, but seeing as my girl is only 2 yrs and not the right weight i thought she did good :) (wasnot intending to breed and they mated before i could seperate them into diff vivs)

not to sure what kind of babies to expect as chomp is a classic and my male buzz is a amel

looks like there's 4, maybe 5 good ones. the rest look infertile, or like "slugs" as we call them.

no guarantees the other ones are fertile, though. if you take a small flashlight and shine the light into one of the white, round eggs, check for veins.

they won't look exactly like this as your eggs were just laid (and i believe those are ball python eggs anyways) but it gives you an idea of what you're looking for. you might find you have to remove the infertile eggs as you incubate, don't want them to rot! stinky!

*edit!*
i apologize for the big pic, pulled it up off of google and had no idea it was so large!

yeah i was wondering cos a couple are very yellow and a very funny shape.thanks for the pic will dig out a flashlight and have a look. any clues on what babies to expect from a classic and a amel ????

Unless the classic is het for amel you will get all classics het amel. Will be interesting if both turned out het for anery XD

have no idea if they carry any other hets and tbh i find the het thing really confusing lol but im a newbie so i guess in time i will pick it all up. my girl chomp is a very pretty classic ( im biased lol ) so any babies she has will be lovely :)
