How long until you can handle him?

We just got our corn snake on Saturday. He is 2 weeks old. We fed him on Sunday. How long until we can handle him? I don't want him to regurgitate his food, but he loves to be held.

The general rule is to wait until the meal has been fully digested, which can be from 2 - 4 days.

Originally you should wait about 5 days before feeding your snake (so that he can settle in and is calm when it's time for him to eat). then wait 48 hours after he has eaten so that he can digest. So your snake should be in your home for at least 7 to 8 days before you try to handle him.

Oops, we have been handling him since we brought him home. He is pretty laid back and seems to love being held. The reptile person at Petco said it would be okay to handle him 24 hours after he ate but I wanted to get more opinions on this.

I usually wait until after her first poop. Which is usually about 72 hours after she eates.

I don't like getting pooped on :awcrap:.
