My gravid corn should shed anyday now and I'm just wondering how many days it took after your corn shed to lay her eggs so I can get an average. I'm really excited. I already have everything set up for the eggs.
On average it's about 7 to 10 days after the pre-lay shed that they will lay, but corns don't always read the rule books. I've known of females laying during the blue phase of the pre-lay shed and I even had a female go into blue for her post lay shed last year before she actually laid her eggs!
10 days.
I've been breeding corns for 20 years and it's almost always 10 days between the shed and egglaying.
I'm not saying it can't be longer of shorter than 10 days, by my corns have been remarkably consistent.
