How much to feed an adult sized corn???

I have been following the Munson Feeding Plan (found on this site) since we got our corn at one month old. The snake is now 306 gms at 15 months old. Earlier this summer I have sent images to Kathy Love and to a local vet and both stated that it is just a big snake. The snake is not over weight. It has been getting an adult mouse since one year old mark (feedings 7-8 days apart). The snake has been in a 55 gallon tank since it was 8 months old (prior to that it was in as 15 gallon tank). Maybe the larger living space has something to do with its large size.

For a while now, after eating an adult mouse, I am not seeing any bulge in the snake’s body. It is still gaining weight though. I would like to know at what point do I switch to jumbo mice? To save me a future question, at what point does someone start feeding something bigger and what would that something be?

Thanks

I'd continue to feed one medium adult mouse every ten days. I don't feed jumbos until they are 700-800 grams, if ever. You don't _need_ to see a bulge at this point- just continue to monitor his weight. He ought to be gaining 5-10 grams (roughly 1/3 the weight of the mouse) at every feeding. If he's gaining 5 grams, I'd be happy with that. Once he gets up to 400 grams, if he's still gaining steadily, I'd put him on a two week schedule.

...and now I know what to do....

Thanks Nanci for taking the time to respond and for the useful information.

Cheers,

Bill

Once Corns are on large adult mice, the "visible bulge" guide no longer applies. I'd agree with Nanci and say that they'd only need something larger if they turn out to be exceptionally large (rather than fat).

Here is an image of the snake at one month a few images from today. I have also added an image of his 55 gallon tank. The Munson plan REALLY works!
