Does it range from snake to snake or age of snake?

Got my baby on july 30 th and am wondering when his first shed will be under my care.

Any signs that i can know when he will go into shed and how long it takes? I know they get a blue tint look over there eyes. Also that i might need to higher the humidity in his tank.


Any info is great

Well when I first got my snakes they shed about every 4 weeks (they where 3.5 months)but they have progressively spaced out there sheds to where now they are 1 year 2 months and they shed about once every1.5 months.If I understand then when they become adults they will shed once a year but I have no experience there.Hope this helps:)
 
So i had my corn for 22 days, so he should start shedding within 6 days hopefully?

How long does it take for them to shed?

It could be much longer before he sheds after the eyes clear up. I think somewhere between 24 hours and 72 (or 48, not sure about that one)
 
I've had both of my snakes go through 5 days of blue 5 clear then shed,it depends on the snake.

What doesn't depends on the individual snake? lol
I worried a lot first time my snake was in blue, it took so long before the actual shed.

Yep, my little guy seems to take FOREVER to shed. Like a full 20 days to do the whole process of barely blue through REALLY blue through clear to shedding. The first time he shed with me was so intensely stressful for me!

Most of my adults boys shed 2-3 times a year. My girls shed more often since they do it so many times during breeding season.

No it does take longer than that. For the most part mine do a 3,3,3 thing. The beginning you will noticed them looking more dull but not cloudy (this is the stage that you look at them and can't tell for sure that they are going to shed) this last for 3 days, then they stay in the cloudy days for 3 days, last they take 3 days of clear before they shed. At this time they will look like they shed but you can't find the skin anywhere.

Obviously, this is a give or take a few days kind of thing but my snakes seem to follow that rule pretty closely.

Many will recommend not feeding during the shedding process because they have noticed an increase on regurges by doing that. I do feed mine during the shedding process and haven't had a problem. I do have one snake that will not eat when she is shedding.

As far as holding I wouldn't hold during the cloudy stage cause they can't see real well and it kind of scares them.
 
I don't hold when they're in the cloudy and clear stage, and I usually don't feed when they're in the blue either unless I thawed out mice before realizing they were in shed. The ONLY time I have ever had a problem with feeding while in the blue was with a hatchling, and his shed came off in a bunch of pieces. It was the only incomplete shed one of my corns have ever had. As for frequency, my recent hatchlings that were eating consistently took a month and a half between their post-hatch shed and their next one. My current year olds shed about every 5 weeks, sometimes every 4. It depends on them individually on how long it takes, but I would say that mine are pretty close to the 3,3,3, thing that cmalchow was talking about.
