How often should he shed?

I've looked around in the archives but couldn't find a solid number on this.

I've had Simon for five weeks, he's (supposedly) about six months old, and he hasn't shed in my care. He weighed ten grams when I took him to the vet on Oct. 15th, but that was after three weeks of regurges. He's had two successful feeds since then, and is due for another in a few days. I wondered if maybe he hadn't shed because he hadn't grown much due to his feeding problems.

What's the average time between sheds for snakes his size? Should I be watching out for him to be in blue so I can get a moist hide ready, or could it still be awhile yet?

It all depends on the snake and how much he is growing. When mine was that size, he was going about 12-14 feeding between sheds. Once he got on fuzzies that went to about 8-10 feedings. If its the snake in your avatar, you shouldn't have an issue noticing when hes in blue. Just give him some time...he will get there eventually!

Snakes shed when they outgrow their skin. If the snake hasn't been eating much, he won't shed much. That said, my babies (without feeding problems) shed about once a month. the hatchlings I'm raising right now hatched on Aug 28th. They are going thru their second shed right now. After four feedings some have already shed, some are about to shed, and the ones who have not eaten at all yet aren't likely to shed anytime soon.

i have got a few hatchlings which are feeding pinks every 6 days and they tend to be shedding every 4-5 weeks at the moment, I suppose it just depends on its feeding and how quick they are growing.

simon im in the same position you are. After the first pinky i gave her she shed, which was really nice and i was hoping at least once a month she would shed. And i think my snakes is about the same age as yours maybe a little youger, but shes taking alot longer than anticipated. I hope she start to shed this week or next week.

Hi

I've had my baby for 4 weeks now. He weighs 16 grams and hasn't shed for me either yet. I guess it just depends how quickly they grow :)
