How often will Cornsnakes shed

Just wondering how often do Consnakes shed? I have had my Cornsnake since Oct 10th. Peanut is eating one pinkie consistently each week with no issues. He weighs 7grams. He is showing no signs of starting a shed at all. Just curious!

they don't follow a time frame. They shed as they grow, as they need to. Your snake is only 7 grams, he's obviously not growing very much. Give him some time.

Typically Babies will shed about every 2 or 3 months, and full grown may only shed 1 or 2 times a year. But again, it depends on how much they grow.

Also.....
Snakes will shed through out their lives. They will shed due to growth, parasites, or age.
Even when a snake looses weight it will still shed. If it has parasites it can go into blue right after a shed cycle and shed again. Sometimes for no apparent reason I've had snakes shed twice in a row. I got a trinket snake that likes shedding every 3 weeks. It's hard to get a snake up to size doing that !!

My snakes, specifically babies and juveniles, shed about every month...it probably closer to every 4 to 5 weeks, but it's closer to every month than it is to every 2 to 3 months.
My adults, however, shed more like every 2 to 3 months.
It is all based on growth. Snakes that are fed more often grow more and shed more often. Snakes that are only fed every 14 days aren't going to shed very often.

It just shows you how different they are. I got Cleo on Oct 10 and she shed the next day. I've been feeding her a pinky every 5 days and she shed again on November 21. When I got her she was 14 grams and now she's 19 grams and just started on double pinkies.

I love the name. I bet Peanut is cute!

P.S. I just went back and found your pic of Peanut. He is not just cute, he is stunning.

Thanks Dolly's Mom!

This is my first snake so just being nervous I guess!! He seems fine and is taking his pinkie every 5 days no problem. He is starting to rub his face on my hands when I am holding him and his colors don't seem as bright so I think he may be getting ready. Thanks for all the advice!

FYI It's best not to feed a hatchling during the shed cycle.
He is rubbing his head to break the skin from his face so if he doesn't shed in the next few days then it might be not humid enough. Add a moist hide to help him along with the shed. An occasional misting will work to.
:)

Just to reiterate and educate in general, Snakes (and lizards) will shed through out their lives whether they grow or not. As an example I have an adult house snake that has been on an extreme hunger strike for over a year (yes tried everything and now force feeding) that has lost half his body weight and has shed 4 times in the last year. :)

Right. But like I said, the more they eat the more they shed...the less they eat, the less they shed. And sheds can happen because of illness and injury as well.

Right. And adding to that also the mating cycle and birthing (egg laying and live birth) will change or cause the shed cycle to happen. Even a hatchling sheds in the first couple of weeks prior to their first meal. I just wanted to expand on yours ("it is all based on growth") and Karl's ( "They shed as they grow")comments so the general reader or the "googler" doesn't think or perpetuate the notion that shedding is only tied to growth. ;)

I have the green moss moist inside of a hide. Should it be in the warm area or the cool area?

I put mine in the middle. It's not over the heating pad, but it is not all the way over to the cool side, either.

I like mine partially over the UTH. It will raise the humidity to aid shedding and keep the moist moss warmer since the water content can drop the body temp of the snake.
