How old could this baby be?

Hi, I bought an anery stripe hatchling from Petsmart on May 10. She's a tiny little thing but she's a great eater and very inquisitive. :)
I don't have a weight on her but she's 10-11 inches long. I was wondering how early in the year corn snakes can hatch. I've noticed many breeders are not expecting hatchlings until July to September, so I was surprised to see such a little one at the pet store. She was the only corn they had and the lady that got her out of the tank didn't know how long they'd had her or anything. (I call it a "she" but I really have no idea :p)

Anyway you could try calling petsmart and inquiring to weather or not they have a hatch date? If they say no, ask if you can be referred to the supplier. It may be worth a try.

Well, although it's true that most corns and many other colubrids are mostly produced in July through September, breeder's can(and do) sometimes manipulate breeding times whenever they want if they cycle the snakes with artificial temps and customized photo periods in their facility.

A ten or eleven inch corn is likely only a couple of months old at best, but if it was not fed all that much, then possibly brumated for a long time the year prior to May when you got it, it is possible that it could even be a 2010 animal. It's really tough to know what happened prior to the store getting it.

Odds are though that the parents of the snake were brought out of brumation very early and it was hatched early in the 2011 season maybe around late March or April.
