how thick should bedding be if using news paper ?...and how think should it be if using aspen shavings...?
 
I think people just use a couple of layers of newspaper. For Aspen or chips, I just make sure there's enogh for them to be off the heat pad, or to burrow if they want. Maybe an inch? I just look at it and try to decide if it looks comfortable. Also when I clean some poo out, there will be enough to fill in spot afterward.
 
I use about 1 inch depth of aspen - enough for them to be able to tunnel in it, and hide anywhere they like in the cage.
