How to safely remove hard water stains?

Well the deposits from misting my snake's terrarium have built up, even on the edges of the lid and on the light domes. I was wondering if anyone has a safe, fool-proof way of getting rid of these eyesores, because I even bought a terrarium cleaner that did absolutely nothing.

The build-up is calcium carbonate which is alkaline, so you need to find a household-level acid then rinse well afterwards. Try vinegar or sugar-free Coke (don't use the stuff with sugar - you don't want to replace the hard water stains with sugar crystals!) They're not miracle cleaners, but they do help.

I get this problem with water bowls as I live in a hard water area. Over time the same thing happens, regardless of how often I rinse or scrub with standard reptile disinfectant.

Distilled Vinegar those yellow dish sponges with the green semi abrasive back and a good bit of elbow grease. It takes a little time but will work.
