Hi! Welcome!

I'm new too, just got my first baby corns Monday and have gone thru a very stressful week of getting so much info and conflicting info I was going nuts. I'm settling down finally, lol! I've learned so much already, like I should not keep them together, should not handle them after they eat, much more! I'm sure more to go as well.

I bought 10 hypos to sell and keep 3 of them for myself. I learned that giving them a nice tree trunk to climb only helps them escape from the cage. They seem obsessed with getting out of the cage even though its big. I have 3 corns on the loose, hopefully they will find mice nests and eat the babies.
Is there a for sale section on this forum?
Thanks for the warm welcome :)
Michael

Welcome to the forum Michael. I'm a new corn owner, long time snake owner. Lots of great information on this site. And yes, there is a classified section located on the main page.

Haha, my baby snow crawled through a peg board hole his first night home. I left my feeding cage on a warming pad on the floor and found him in it in the morning. You might try to do the same. And tread carefully! ;)

how do i find the contributing page? is it in my profile area and how much is it to be a contributing member?
Thanks everyone for the fast responses :)
Michael

If you click on the neon green link at the top of any page on this forum. It says "Want to be a contributing member of Cornsnakes.com? Click here" It is $25 a year.

Welcome to the forum! I had so many questions when I first joined, but everyone is so great and helpful, some of their ideas are things I would NEVER have thought of, lol. I now have a pretty good idea of everything I am doing, and if not I know to come here and even if someone cant help me, they give me a link... Plus just from reading all the threads constantly all day long, I've learned wayyy more then I ever thought I would and I am now able to even give advice to a friend of mine. Anyways, hope to see more of you around!!

I have made so many mistakes im ashamed.
The level of care ive given reflects my health so much more than my love for the animals.
I keep ball pythons and boas too, 1 chinese water dragon and ive gone from 114 bearded dragons to 11, i want that down to 3 or 4 tops.
I started a a rescue, a noble enterprise, only to quickly become overwhelmed due to the massive need being so much greater than my healths ability to meet it. I have 5 blown discs, spinal stenosis and sciatica down both legs, Im under excellent care for all this ad severe asthma, also controlled but when I have an episode and have 5 days in bed I find they suffer and I ask myself how many are actually better off. i have rehomed over 400 animals successfully but feel so bad for the ones that pass away when im ill. My help is limited to a friend with limited knowledge and no qualification for handling any reptiles, he loves them so i move the animals while he cleans. My goal is to get everything down to a manageable number so its never an issue again, only to recue (myself) low maintenance animals (corn snakes are great). Boas and Pythons arent bad either, lizards are too much as much as I love them. Last night a borneo blood python died of accidental drowning :( that was my final straw... im distraught over this and while these animals have een rescued from deplorable conditions im not so sure im able to provide but aste or 2 up the ladder from where they came, i soooooo FRUSTRATED!!!

one of my biggest fears is exposing myself for help and getting slammed rather than advised, im 49 not 13, I know when im beat but on good days (most) youd never know anything was wrong, I do fine, its these times where i am lacking in ability to meet thier needs that I suffer great mental anguish. Today I start cleaning cages again but this time im disinfecting each cage as I go and washing each animal in a baby shampoo. please be helpful, I dont need kit gloves, im not in denial of my situation but I wont be treated disrespectfully either, im looking for advice and support and encouragement and ideas.
Sincerely
Michael

People here speak their opinions but they are never to hurt someone or bash on them. I'm sorry to hear that you have no many health issues... that is great that you have helped out so many rescues! I don't think that you should become discouraged or upset, I think the best thing to do would to get to a manageable level that you can take care of and that would be self-sustaining while you are sick. Snakes should be alright if they are left alone for a few days. However, it might be a better idea for any pets that require daily care to possibly re-home? I can understand that you feel mentally drained from not being able to care for all your babies, I would be too. It's just the point that maybe there are just too many of them? Letting go is hard and there are so many people here to offer support! I hope some, if any, of this helps....

I am so sorry Michael. I can see that this is tearing you apart, not being able to care for them the way they need. I am glad you see that you need help though. My husband has stenosis along with spina bifida and scoliosis so I understanding the pain you are going through.

Thank you for the responses.
Things have turned around quite a bit as ive moved on the high maintenance animals.
When an animal call comes or something I cant take care of I have a network formed to place them. I have only low maintenance animals now and 4 dragons that seem to be here for life.
I appreciate your encouragement,
Thank you
Michael

Hi Michael! I'm sorry to hear of your circumstances. Like Christen said, it's good that you see what you need - that is the best that anyone can do. I'm glad you found this forum, and I hope we can help.
