Howdy from TX!

Delighted long enough.
Hello,

I'm a newbie to this site and to Corn Snakes- in fact, my first one arrrives tomorrow! My Motley Sunglow male (Rowan) should be here around noon- I am very excited. In addition to him, I have a ball python (Roxy), a Lab, a Ragdoll cat, an Appaloosa horse, and 9 Betta fish (!). Oh, and I'm also in the market for a female Butter Corn... I need help... :p

Other than that, I'm a grad student that is working full-time (and hopefully going back to school in the fall). I'm open to any helpful advice any of you may have! One question: someone at my office learned that I had a snake and offered (very excitedly) to give me an old tank that she no longer can use. I accepted (very excitedly, also) before learning that it was a 30 gallon tall hexagonal tank- is there anything that can be kept in that? Someone on another forum told me a Corn would be happy there (which would work out perfectly for me). I know they aren't arboreal, but could one grow to appreciate such an enclosure? Just wondering! Thanks!

Texas is a great place to be, welcome to the forum. Where in this great state do you live? Where is grad school and what are you studying?

Thanks! I'm at TAMU- I graduated with a Bachelor's in Animal Science, and I'm hoping to get a Master's in Wildlife Science :)

Great to have another Aggie on here! We're in enemy territory:grin01: here in Austin, but try to get down to Aggieland as often as possible! Welcome to the forum, there's lots of helpful people and good information here.

Lesley

As the senior Aggie hereabouts (that I know of, anyway), welcome aboard. This is a pretty decent bunch of screwballs.

Whoop! So many Aggies! Haha.

As to the tank- I have no idea. I've been looking to see if *someone* makes a hexagonal shaped reptile lid, but so far I haven't had much luck. I've seen whispers of them on google, so I'm pretty sure they exist, but I don't know where to find them without getting something custom-made. That pending, how would that tank work out, do you think?

Welcome aboard! I'm a transplant FROM Texas. LOL. Hope you have fun with us!

I knew there was a reason I liked you.

Excellent, there are a surprising number of "wildlife people" on here as well. My BS is from TAMUK in wildlife management, today I manage wildlife on a daily basis, I teach High School Biology, lol.

Well, a good group now that that coonass that used to live in your house moved back to the swamps ;)

(I'm sure he can find a quick comeback for that if he happens to stumble upon this lol)
