Howdy! Lurker turned active member....

Just thought I would officially introduce myself, since I finally decided to join the site instead of simply lurking...

My name is Nathan Shotts, and I'm a 3rd year vet student at Texas A&M University. I won't be practicing reptile med exclusively when I graduate, but reptiles have always been a passion of mine. In high school I convinced my parents to let me buy a leopard gecko, which quickly turned into 5, which then bred and turned into MANY more. Once I got into undergrad and then into vet school I have since expanded into many other species as well.

Breeding animals has always been something I've been interested in. Don't know if its the allure of never knowing what you will produce, or seeing the benefits of all the hard work pay off when you get amazing offspring. In the reptile world, I mainly deal with corns, ball pythons, boas, leopard geckos, and african fat-tails, but also breed Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs as well.

Anyway, just wanted to say hey, and start the process of getting plugged into the forum!

Awesome! If you ever want another one, just let me know! Haha. You should come check out my collection sometime.

Howdy from another Texan with a Cornsnake addiction! Welcome aboard!

Thanks! Btw, see you have "Fluorescents"? What exactly is that?

We need pictures!!!!!!

I'll try to add some soon - working on building a shadow box right now. I've got a lot to take pictures of though, and in the process of expanding even more right now.

Oh, so still a good 4-5 hours, I was hoping for free snakes jk

College Station is only 45 minutes!!!! I could hook you up with some free (or DRASTICALLY reduced) corns later this year when my hatch out.

Welcome!

We need lots more vets who are interested in herps, even if it will not be your total practice. And even better with a special interest in corns, lol!

I am sure you will find some interesting discussions here relating to veterinary medicine, as well as breeding, morphs, etc. We have several vet tech members who are a great help in those discussions, but input from informed members is always welcomed!

I'm a fellow Aggie! A freshman here at the University. I'm looking to buy either a corn snake or a ball python this summer :)

Fluorescents are Amels that are very bright red and orange thru selective breeding of very bright Amels. Here is Comet my Fluorescent male...

Todd

Cool! Just send me a pm or add me on facebook - you should definitely check with me first before going to a local store. I'd cut you a GREAT deal!

Tod, Wow. He is quite the looker. I have an almost reverse okeetee amel that I thought was the most handsome amel around until I saw your fluorescent.

Hi, I've just joined too. I'm Alison from Yorkshire in the UK. I briefly co-habitated my two 4 year old corns on the advice of a guy at the local pet shop, I then found out they were male and female as they mated! After having read some of the really well informed posts on here about the dangers of leaving them together, I have now put them back into their own vivariums. I feel a little mean as the male seems quite upset about it but I was horrified to learn they might eat each other! I've learned loads from this website already and may need to learn some more if any eggs arrive!
