Hi everyone,

I'm new to the snake world, having recently jumped in with a sweet little Okatee we picked up from Triple-R-Corns at the recently Calgary (Alberta) Reptile Show.

My girlfriend and I just went down to look around; we're both fans of our cold-blooded cousins, but were really just looking for a fun way to spend an afternoon, not increase the population of our household. Well, just a little while chatting up a gent on the other side of a table full of snakes, and a crash course in the how different Corn keeping is from the lizards I'd been used to, and we're suddenly having a giddy conversation about where our new companion would live, and how her son would react to the latest zany thing we'd done.

I found my way here (actually my gf found it through the miracle of this century, Google) because I'm always down with learning, I love being able to tap the experience of others (especially where the well-being of another organism is involved), and because I thought it would be rude to just keep pelting Rebecca with questions via email (despite the fact that she was always quick to reply and open to fielding them).

I look forward to getting to trade words with everyone, and maybe someday trading snakes too. :)

Welcome to the forum, Ian. I did not know that they spoke such fluent american in Alberta.
Great intro.

Howdy and welcome Ian.
So how did her son react?

He gave us some eye-rolling, and an "I knew it!" He's still not very comfy with her, for example if I set her down so I'm not actively holding her he wants a lot of distance. Perhaps I shouldn't have teased him so much about how much his fingers looked like a pinkie. :devil01:

:wavey: Hi Ian. Lets see some pics...

Yes, you are not actually the first person to ask where my pics are, and now I feel that I'm not being an adequately "proud parent". *blush*

But all I have right now are some crummy snaps we took the first time she came out, and then we lost our camera in our recent move, and now we've got the camera she's on enforced "quiet time" because of hurling up her last meal. But I'll work on it! :)
