EmbersMom
And then there were three
I've read about plastic sheeting or whatever to put over screen tops of vivs to keep humidity in. I've also read about taping it down. Ember is in blue, and we are making him a humid hide. But we have to find a way to keep more humidity in. Are they talking about saran wrap or ??? How do I do this? We don't have humidity monitors in their vivs yet - this is on the financial "to do" list for July. Right now we have wet towels over 2/3 of their screen tops (and dry towels over the wet towels to keep the wet from drying out from the top) and we are spraying the aspen down every day (stepping up to 2X a day and mixing moss in with the aspen). I think keeping the humidity high enough is going to be a battle for us since we live in New Mexico and it is very dry here!
Would plexiglass cut to cover the top of the screen with air holes and a hole for the heat lamp work to keep humidity in? Or what is the plastic sheet(ing) everyone is talking about? Flame is dry (Ember is not) and the only thing that is working for him is his humid hide, but he is not in blue and I don't want him to get scale rot or anything like that. Is him being dry on the bottom only a concern between blue and shed, or should we worry anytime he is dry and flaky on the underbelly? Thanks in advance if you can help at all.
