Hungry little King...

Haven't been on in a while, so I figure I'll start off by showing you guys what happened! We recently got some new snakes in at work. I held this guy/gal for a bit and was pleased with their docility. So the next day my boyfriend comes over to visit me while I was working. I pull out the king, showing off now nice it is. I noticed it would just sit there very still and push it's nose against my skin. So I said "I'm gonna put this one away before he bites me." annnnd as soon as I lower him into the cage he very slowly and casually bites my finger! Haha, I was laughing so hard. I wiggled it around hoping he would let go but that just made him constrict.

So after a bit he let go, then moved onto the next finger! Hah. Cute now, but it'll suck when he's bigger.

Since this he has bitten two of my co workers. I think he just sees all living things as food items. Of course the fact that my hands smelled like rat, mouse, hamster, bird and other snakes probably didn't help.

Thats to cute! We just got a cali king to and while she has the appetite of a king she hasnt bitten any of our fingers yet. Though she does do that slowly sneak over and poke thing so....:sidestep:

Yeah be careful Stormy! It starts out as that and then CHOMP!

I actually had no idea snakes could bite hard. And I can promise I'll be washing my hands before handling him from now on. Oh he bit me again by the way! Feeding time, I opened the feeding bin and he just shot out like a bolt of lightning and tagged me.

Yeah I am being careful when I handle her. I am hoping she stays calm like she is now. At least I think I can hope this....

And THAT'S why I love Cal Kings. :)
Very cute pics.
I actually have a bunch of pics of an albino Cal-King doing the exact same thing from when I worked at the reptile store. Every time he let go of one finger he grabbed a new one. :)

He's so cute. Glad his bite didn't hurt much. You know, it's weird but I worked with multiple Eastern Kingsnakes when I worked as a naturalist and they were all sweet as pie. I thought all Kings were like that til I came here and was disabused of the notion. ;)
