Hypo Kastanie?

Camby

He will join us or die
I am guessing that is what this guy is? Doesn't quiet look the same as the European versions, but definitely has a color change on the lower half from orangish blotches to brown blotches. Eitherway, I like him, very cool looking.

no it looks like normal hypo
hypo kastane = klick

We'll see in time, but so far, most of th eameican versions don't quiet follow the "ian text book" pics. All I know is there is a definitive differentation of gound and blotch coloration abot half way down.

parents were normal het ghst stripe and rosy blood x same. I have one hypo stripe out and the two look nothing alike...shrug? Time will tell, hence the "?" tag.

Hope you post a bunch of comparison pics for us Daryl. I've heard their is a connection between "rosy" and kastanies (i.e. one and the same) but I just don't see it, at least in the few I've seen to do a comparison. It looks like Copper and Kastanie are one and the same, would be quite the coup if rosy bloods were also Kastanie bloods ;)

Good luck, multi het snakes are sure fun :*)

I've taken pics of many Hypo Kastanies in Frank Schaub's place. Compared with these, yours doesn't look like one. I've never seen a Kastanie or Hypo Kastanie hatchling which hatched with red colours, they all showed dark brown (kastanie) or mid to light brown (hypo kastanie) blotches, but never any red.

Here are comparison pics

1.0 Kastanie ph Hypo

Nevertheless, Ghost Stripe x Rosyblood is a GREAT project!! Please keep us updated about the outcome!!

@chris68
Don already crossed the german kastanies with his rosybloods and got a clutch full of kastanies and mandarins. These are two females (both males were in shed) of this cross which live now in Frank Schaubs place here in Germany.

Frank got 1.1 Kastanies and 1.1 Mandarin from the german Kastanie x SMR Rosyblood cross. This year he crossed them to each other, but got not a single Bloodred animal. It seems as if not all of Don's Rosybloods are carrying the Bloodred trait. :shrugs:

We have 2.2 Coppers (also believe by some to be the same as Kastanie) that have "diffused" sides, but are not proven to be homo for the trait. Could be the same instance of the rosy bloodreds not being actually homo for the trait.
