wow~~
glad that the hypos are doing great~~

lovely close up photos~~~~
great shots!!!!!

Hey Cas....

Hey Cas,

The snakes look great and I esp. love the close up photography!! Such great detail!! (Do you take the close ups w/o a tripod?) If you don't mind my asking, what type of camera are you using? It looks like an expensive digi camera of some sort.

Thanks!
Warren

Yes, it's done without a tripod (with the flash on, of course). The camera is moderately expensive, it's a Nikon Coolpix 950. (cost about $600 Canadian). It's an older model, so it's a little less expensive, but can also be really hard to find - Nikon isn't making them anymore. BTW, all the pics were taken in automatic mode - basically just point and shoot (I've never even tried the manual mode on this camera). This thing can take some amazingly close macros (so close that if you take a pic of newsprint, you can see the spaces between the ink dots in the letters!)... the only downside is that the flash is off to one side of the lens, so on extreme close shots you either have to use another bright light source, or deal with half the image getting some shadows.
Half the camera also rotates, which is absolutely wonderful with macro shots - you can move the camera while keeping the digi screen in plain view.

Can you tell I like my camera? ;)

(Oh, and it also inhales regular batteries - had to buy a set of recharable NiMH batteries, runs great on those. Also, only has a serial port (no usb!), so if you want to suck the pics off a 64 Meg flash card in less than a year, a flash card reader is kinda nice too)

No problem :)
They're actually not too bad to find if you go with e-bay, or some of the other online camera outlets. Was harder for me to find one, since I wanted to find a place in canada that sold them (just in case I needed to get something fixed, so I wouldn't have to send it back over the border for warranty purposes or something).

Dawn,

You have such beautiful corns and you take great pictures! Maybe instead of biology you should be going into photography!

Maybe we can get some pics of you fussy butter???

I enjoy photography, but can't imagine trying to make a living doing it!

My butter is another one that would prefer not to sit still, but I have a few pics of her...

Some flash reflection, but not too bad.

Here you can see some of her funky pattern... maybe a little bit of aztec?

Here she is about to shed... Such pretty colors when she's blue, I just have to forgive her for tending to regurge when she sheds. ;)

Oh I love that butter that you have.

Cas....maybe in the near future, I'll be getting some...or a lot....of butters and corn snakes from you. Love that butter very much~~~especially that patter...lovely~

Hey Dawn,

That is such a beautiful butter! It's so worth putting up with the regurges when she sheds! Thats a magnificent animal!

Simon, that'd be cool ;)
I've already got one person who wants to be told if she breeds this spring (I'm not brumating her, as she's a little small... besides being naturally a smaller snake I mean) simply because it's so hard to find buttters out west here. If I do breed her, it'll be to my anery a het amel... so the the offspring should be interesting (normals het amel, anery a, and caramel, and should be some amels het anery a and caramel as well)... F2 could give anery a's, amels, caramels, snows, butters, and even triple homozygotes (snow masks caramel though, I believe)). Fun stuff!

drizzt, no not yet... Jim is keeping them until the beginning of December, then he's bringing them up to Simon, who will then ship them to me. Little over a week to go! :)
