I GOT HIM! butter motley

Shelliebear

Team Snug
Got him for an AMAZING price, considering he comes with a ten gallon tank, light fixture and bulb, locking lid, hide, water dish, and a month or two worth of pinky mice (with some hoppers for when he gets bigger), for 80$--plus the guy is throwing in our choice of a FREEEEEE caramel female from his clutch that should hatch in about two months. : D So stoked, because this little guy is het caramel, Cheesecake is p.h. caramel, and now the caramel female makes it so we will get some caramels when we breed.
They are also all het stripe. : )
Yes!!!
Here is the little guy--didn't want to bug him too much, but got some nice shots so far. He is GORGEOUS--breeder wasn't going to sell him originally, he was a hold back, but is trying to fill up his rat rack to supply a store, so he needs some extra cash and gave him to us. : )
His name is Skittles or Skitz for short 'cause his tail wiggles like he is skittish : )

Looking great! :D

Also, I'd throw the hoppers out or something if you can't use them. Unless you vacuum seal and deep freeze them, they will probably be bad by the time he is ready to eat them.

I had no idea--but when I took those photos he was in shed, because I found it all in one piece last night. :)
So I can't wait to check on him and see how he looks now. Do snakes with the hypomelanistic gene in them like butters have (they have that right?) not get dull when they are in shed?

They do get dull but I have a hard time telling when my butters and my snows are getting ready to shed. I usually find the shed skin in their viv and its like "oh wow, I didn't notice you were getting ready to shed". Just check the shed and your little guy to make sure he shed completely, nothing left on the tail tip. It's easier to tell with my hypo and caramels.

Congrats on your lil butter. I have a weakness for butters.

OMG - He's awesome!! Makes me think that I just might breed my Butter (when she's older/big enough) to one of our Motleys.

Congrats!

Actually butters are amel and caramel not hypo but the motley gene can brighten them up some. I've found that it is sometimes hard to tell when they are going blue especially if you got this one after it cleared up right before the shed.

Beautiful butter, anything with caramel is my favorite!

P.S.- butters aren't het caramel, they are homo caramel which roughly means it shows through visibly. You will actually get a better ratio breeding a homo to a het than a het to a het. You are better off than you thought!:crazy02:

Same here. I've had my little butter girl 2-3 weeks and was surprised last weekend to find a shed because I never noticed her in blue. Guess it's just harder to notice on these lighter morphs.

butters do not have the hypo gene in them(unless they happen to be het), butters are actually amel/caramels...so it is not het caramel, it IS a caramel, and visible amel...so it is a double homogonous animal. i have three butter motleys and i can tell pretty easily when they are in shed. they are just SO bright, you will be able to tell when they are in shed after you have them a couple months. butter motleys are probably my favorite corn morph! they almost glow! congrats on getting him, cant wait to see some fresh shed pics. first pic is in shed, second is not...they look pretty dull in shed, out of shed they glow

AWW what a cutie!

i just picked myself up a nice male butter motley at the rep. show here in kansas last sunday!
they are soo bright i love them!
awesome your getting a pair thats even better congrats!

with the literally thousands of snakes i have had, butter motleys are right at the top as far as pure beauty! these are probably, no they are, my favorite corn snake morph so far...at least in my collection. i may find one someday i like more, but i kinda doubt it. they are for sure the brightest snakes i have seen, they do glow. i am glad you both either have them, or are getting them. they are amazing snakes for sure!

I couldn't agree more Rick, although I've had my eye on Peach as well lately. I've heard they have they are stunners in person. One day very soon I'm sure I'll be able to find a couple I can't do without.

Neiman, I was at that same show in KC on Sunday but hardly saw any corns. I arrived at 10:30, you must have swooped in during that first half hour I missed and snagged all of the good ones...lol

i know at the cleveland show, you only have a couple months after the hatch season, then you rarely see corns, they seem to sell out and they are gone! you see a few stragglers or trades, but absolutely no volume at all!
