Totally forgot to introduce myself. See first thread I made here - http://www.cornsnakes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=144243

Hi, my name is Samantha! I'm 24 years old. I'm pretty much a stay at home mom ATM with two boys, Solomon who's 3 and Isaac who's a little over a year old. I have two beautiful corn snakes, one (now I guess two) cats, and a half German Shepard puppy.

My cornsnakes are as follows:
Aurora, was told she was a she. Aurora is a 2 ft 2 in ultramel and she's very timid. In fact, I've tried feeding her a live fuzzy once before just to see her predator drive and she ran away from it. xD But it's OK, I'm an avid f/t feeder since I started keeping snakes. She also shakes her tail more often, thinking she's a rattler.

Dante is my supposed male. When he sheds, I'll be able to accurately measure his length but know that he's a little bit smaller than Aurora. He's a sun-kissed. Very high predator drive but boy is he confused as he bites down. I've only tried this once. Probably won't do it again. He attacked the live fuzzy I gave him and seemed to not know how to coil around it. In fact, he was trying to eat it whole, live! He's pretty active. Pretty bold. Has tried to defensively bite me. xD But other than that, he's a cool little dude.

Well, that's all my current snakes.

I guess I'll add in why I keep them as pets. When I was really young I'd always bring home lizards, garter snakes, baby birds (because I thought the cats would eat them), stray animals. Basically everything I explored and picked up. Couldn't keep a reptile growing up but I did get a Ball Python with my husband awhile back. Rehomed the sweet little guy because I took a close look at his teeth. Yikes! It wasn't just the teeth, truth be told. I was a little worried about the what ifs since I have two young boys. Balls are small but they can be powerful and their teeth are alot bigger than a corn's. That and, though I loved having him, I would've rather had a native snake to my country. Easier and I think native U.S. snakes are prettier.

Well, that's all I have as of now. Don't really wanna write a book here. I'm just glad to have joined something for learning and you guys...you guys are so awesome! Really, really nice people. I tell you, I joined this "stretched/gauged" ear forum thing awhile ago and they were relentless towards me! Very bitchy and judgemental about things. Very opinionated. (Ahem, yeah I have 4g tunnels in both ears.) I can't tell you how grateful I feel that you guys are so nice here. :) Thank you for that. <3 It really means slot to me. This is one of the first forums I've joined in years. Makes me feel welcome. *gives hugs*

Welcome Samantha! Though I was a member a while ago, I am new again. Looking forward to seeing Aurora & Dante grow!

Welcome to the forum! If you want to get a more accurate measurement for your snakes, you can take a picture of them next to a ruler and use http://serpwidgets.com/main/measure to measure them. Their sheds can stretch out a fair amount while the snake is slithering out of it, so it's not always an accurate way of determining length.

Welcome to the forum. :wavey: I first got the silver coin precisely so I could edit. Of course now I really enjoy the benefit of supporting this great community.

Thank you all! I very much appreciate the welcoming from all of y'all. I admit, I may not be a regular poster here as life is busy but if you want I can do updates on my babies and love seeing y'all's as well (sometimes I just visit home pages just to look at your snakies too)

I actually considered this before and thanks for the tip. Their skins are pretty stretchy and soft. Just like little old sweaters.

Hi and welcome!!!

Have to ask this: What on Earth is an EAR FORUM thing? That for folks who have strange piercings or just strange earlobes? Do tell! (I would imagine they have forums on just about EVERYTHING nowadays, but can't imagine one dedicated to just ears!). When I was a kid I used to think that my grandmother could HEAR what I was THINKING, but that would probably fall under the category of MAGICAL THINKING as opposed to BIG EARS!! (My grandma was deaf, BTW, and when she finally relented and got a hearing aid, I used to go right behind her and whistle really LOUD so that she'd adjust the knobs until her device began to WHISTLE REALLY LOUDLY FOR REAL!!!! But she had a great sense of humor and would laugh when she realized what I'd done, all while cursing under her breath but you could actually HEAR her, sounding like an adult version of Popeye The Sailor, remember how he'd THINK out LOUD?) LOL!

Oh! I'm sorry! Lol! I meant forums for people with gauged/stretched ear lobes. You know, with big disks in their ear lobes and stuff. Mine are gonna stay pretty small at 4g each but some have really stretched out ears. 2 in and up! The community tends to be a bit nippy about people making mistakes like going up a size too quick or using a certain product for their ears like acrylic tunnels (ear accessory), types of oils, I was even told off for cleaning my ear holes (lol ear holes) with soap! Basically they were super judgemental and griped about every choice I made for MY own ears! :D Even went far enough to say since I don't buy expensive high quality ear accessories, then I shouldn't have stretched ear lobes. They even brought up the fact that I have kids into their insults. I just left 3rd day of going on there. :|

Basically think African tribe with the huge holes in their ear lobes usually wearing disks made of bone and such. It's kinda a fashion thing with teens and young adults nowadays. But what you came up with my dismal and confusing description of it in my first post was way funnier! :D
