My hognose will not eat. It seems like alot of people on this forum also have hognose snakes, I would appreciate any help I could get.

It seems no matter what I do, I cannot get the snake to eat. At first I thought it was because it got a little colder in my snake room due to the outside temperature, and the photoperiod changed(most of the light in the viv comes from the windows in my snake room). I went right out and bought a heater to bring the temperature in the room to about 75 degrees F. This was about a month and a half ago, and has not helped at all. The last time my hognose ate was over two months ago. I have tried the following:

Feeding him normally in a seperate container.

Leaving him overnight with the prey.

Braining the prey and leaving him overnight.

All of my corns in the same rack are eating great and seem to be very healthy. I have never had any health problems with any of my other snakes. He has been a little bit of a stubborn eater since I got him, but I have always in the past been able to get him to eat one way or another. Anyone who is knowledgable with hognose snakes please help, I dont want the little guy to starve to death.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Justin

Have you tried live? I've been very lucky with my hogs, they're great f/t eaters. If all else fails, get a toad of some sort and scent the pink (f/t or live) with that. Should trigger a feeding response.
