I lost a corn to mites and now I need to treat my Kingsnake and my other corn, and my Brazilian rainbow boa.

Can anyone tell me how the Seven Dust works and if it actually works?

Is that you Lotuscrested? Small world!!! PM ominously on our forum if no one responds and sorry about your corn!

I have used sevin successfully along with bedding changes and no-pest strips.
It's a long, drawn out process that's dangerous for snakes but it works if you got a week. I think this method has fallen by the wayside in favor of less dangerous methods.

There are better methods now that include nix shampoo, (BK and BKII), and provent-a-mite.
I have no experience with these methods, and I hope I won't have to learn.
I'm sure someone will be right along to fill up your skull to the top with knowledge.
Even with these preferred methods, it's still a minimum of 2 treatments, a week apart. (To kill the eggs, once they've hatched.)

If you have furry pets that have free reign maybe it would be a good idea to restrict them from the area, or treat them, as they may wind up as temporary hosts, reinfecting your snakes over a week later.
If you lost a corn to mites it sounds pretty bad.

That's awful that you lost a corn to mites! :( I'm sorry for your loss, PlayfulSnake.

The only time I ever had a case of mites was with my first corn two years ago, and I used this stuff called Natural Chemistry Reptile Relief (http://www.reptilesupply.com/product.php?products_id=1020) and within the span of two weeks they were gone. I haven't had any issues with mites since, and I hope I never will again!

It is. ;_; This is horrible because I always quarantine and I always wash my hands before I handle each reptile!

Sorry this happened, but it was probably the regurges that did him/her in and not the mites anyway you haven't had it long enough for the mites to actually be able to kill it. I know they say these mites are species specific, but still look at everyone else real real good to be sure. I hope you get some good help and the rest of the brood is fine!!:bird:
