I want to find out the sex of my corn snake. What are some ways that i can use. I know one is probring, but i dont have the tools, and im kinda scared to do it, dont wanna hurt the snake. I also heard that you can tell by the size of the tail. Now if thats true would that go the Pituophis family?
 
It's pretty unreliable to find out the sex by looking at the tail. I'd recommend finding an experienced herp veterinarian in the area. If you can't find one, I'd be willing to bet there's somebody else here on the boards from the Phoenix area who could help you out.
 
Alright cool i'll wait for some answer, and see what ya got. and then imma check out some places around here and see if they can help me.
 
There has got to be a pet shop in Phx that specializes in snakes. Call them and see if they can do it for you, or maybe a local Herp Society.
 
I will be at the Tucson show this weekend. If you can bring it down, I will sex it for you (as long as I can do it when not too busy).

I believe there will be a show in Phoenix this year, too. I will not be there, but I am sure some breeder there would be willing to help if you can't make it to the Tucson show.

Also, I have a couple of free, one minute videos on how to sex snakes on my site (www.cornutopia.com). You can watch them a couple of times to get an idea of how it is done.

wait and see what restroom it walks into... ;)

personally I am pretty acurate at sexing adults based on tail length/ shape...but its never 100% acurate...is the snake in question a baby?
