So I was wondering if someone could post some pictures of there heat setup, such as the heat pad on the outside and the temp probe sitting in the middle. I've been reading and have been told how to do it but I think some photos would be better at showing me exactly what it should look like or how it should be set up. Also a good website where I could order the heat pad and probe?

that would be awesome thank you and thank you for the links! I just need to know how to set it up properly, as in how the probe would look inside the tank!

I haven't forgotten you. I took pictures when I setup my tank today but my daughter is having a slumber party and I just haven't been able to sit down at the computer to upload them.

Please note this tank will be for a lizard that has a basking spot during the day.
The UTH is just for supplemental night heat & doesn't cover a full third of the tank. However installation is the same.

Pictures are thumbnails, click them and they will open bigger.

My supplies. UTH, aluminum foil, aluminum heat tape, thermostat, thermometer & not pictured Blu-tack (for sticking down the probes & wires).

I do not stick my UTH's to the tank like the directions say. I peal off the back and stick aluminum foil to the sticky part of the UTH.
It makes it so I can remove the UTH from the tank if I need to, but you can certainly just stick it to your tank.

The aluminum foil goes towards the bottom of the tank, and I tape it to the tank with aluminum heat tape.

And from the inside

Thermostat probe.
Not pictured, I used Blu-Tack to stick the wire up the side of the tank & the thermostat unit is hanging under the tank.

Thermometer & thermostat probes

The thermometer does 2 temp readings, one from the probe and the other from near the unit, so I set the unit on the other side of the tank. I can see the temp gradient of the whole tank at a glance. If you use a single read thermometer you could hang it on the back wall of the tank or run the probe wire out of the tank and hang it outside the tank.

Here the probes wire is a mess.

A few twist ties and it's all neat

A bigger picture with neat probe wires

With some more tank accessories added. There will be a hide in front of the wire bundle

I like Exo-Terra Desert heatmats, they are thin and come with really nice risers for the bottom of the tank.

And some of the reasons (there are 2 more kids not pictured) this didn't get posted yesterday ;)

You can buy an Exo-Terro UTH from Amazon

Hydrofarm thermostats can also be found on Amazon

The thermometer I used can be bought at Walmart

Wow, thank you so much! That makes things look so much more clear, then to just read about it! I am still working on the supplies to start putting together my custom tank but now i know exactly what to get and how to set it up. No big deal on the wait :) I have a daughter and i know how it goes! I just appreciate the time you took into taking the photos and showing me! thanks again!
