Ice and other hatchlings!! (lotsa pics)

Em Wright

The Ice Queen
I just got these in this morning from Susan. I took the time to take them each out, snap a few pictures and offer them water before letting them settle into their new homes.

So, here they are...

First we have the little Anery female. She's possibly het for Lava and Bloodred. I'm thinking of naming her something that has to do with "Water Moccasin"... when I offered her water she dove right down into it, hit the bottom of the little container and tried putting her whole body into it. I'm not sure what she was doing, but she seems to really like water! I was thinking Moca... The middle of her saddles look kind of chocolately so I think it works.

She also pooped when my mother was holding her. Was kinda funny. :grin01: (my pets doing their business while my Mom is holding them is a long standing joke between us)

Next we have the Ghost female het Amel. She was a little freaked about being shipped I think. But she calmed down really fast. Her colors are really stunning. Really bright white and tan. I'm completely in love with her!

Unfortunately I didn't get very good pictures. She was content to cruise around in my hands instead of actually sitting still so I could capture her prettiness!

Fear not! I saved the best for last. The Ice will be posted, as promised in a second post. I took quite a few images of him!

Here he is!

And here is the Ice male possibly het Bloodred. He is easily my favorite of the four I got from Susan.

He was cruising along as well, but was so calm and collected. And I can't wait for him to grow up so I can watch his colors develop!

I also got a Lavender female from Susan. But she started shedding in transit and seemed to be having some difficulty with the shed. I put her in a container with some moist paper towels and let her slither through them. She's in her container now. I'll be misting it for her if she still seems to have issues in about an hour. So, no pictures.

One final picture of the hatchlings on their shelf!

I hope you all enjoyed!!

Thanks. One of the few times I went to Kroger they had the tubs (with the white lids) for sale $1 each so I bought 5 of them.

I do plan on swapping the new babies over to substrate, but I want to make sure they're all eating well and pooping well. Easier to see that on paper towel instead of aspen. (they were bought out of the egg, fyi, Susan's snakes are great and otherwise there would be no question)

And a disclaimer... the red stuff under my nails is paint! I have not murdered anyone..... recently... :uhoh:

Well the Lavender still hasn't finished shedding. :shrugs:

I've been misting and such, but she hasn't been trying to get the shed off it seems. She was out exploring like the others, but she hadn't been rubbing. She is laying on the moist paper towels I put in there, though.

Is there something else I should be doing for her?

I just checked the lavender siblings for their sheds and they haven't shed either. They are due to shed, if they go like all the other 164 hatchlings, but nothing. They all did have quite a large volume of yolk that the absorbed upon hatching, so maybe they were a bit early and just aren't ready to shed yet. The piece of shed on your lavender's neck may have been scratched off a little early when I was trying to get her in the little deli cup (if I recall, she didn't want to be in there and every time I would finally get almost all of her tail half in, she would quickly poke her head half out again. I didn't notice the hanging shed skin until after she was finally in the deli cup and I was putting the tape on.

All right, I'll stop worrying about it. I'll give her a couple days, I'm sure she knows when it's supposed to go off and will get to it. :) I'm probably just anxious!

She was really cute coming out of the box too, tail rattled so fiercely! She's fiesty, but not nippy (at least that I've seen).
